The British Birdgang are one of the largest UK fan groups of the NFL team the Arizona Cardinals. Having grown in size over the past few years and wanting to get more involved with NFL organisations within the UK it was important that they had an image that portrayed them as the loyal, invested fans that they are. I developed a new logo design for them that reflects all aspects of who they are and what they stand for. The new logo pays homage to the Arizona Cardinals in the colour scheme used, and in the use of a cardinal as the symbol, but reworked in a unique way that makes them stand out.
As well as implementing a cardinal and colours associated with the Arizona Cardinals it was crucial that the ‘British’ element was included. This was achieved by adding a distressed Union Flag within the breast of the bird symbol. Flexibility is key and a symbol that could be made monochrome for use on t-shirts and other merchandise was key, something often overlooked in sports logos that tend to be more of an illustration than a logo.
We had been looking for a suitable logo for some time but had yet to find anything that looked remotely professional or stood out from the generic “team logo slapped atop of a union jack” that most NFL fanclubs seem to have adopted.
Mark came up with an excellent idea which everyone loved and then the final design was just what we were looking for; simple but stands out amongst the crowd. Very happy with the service provided and would definitely recommend.
