The British Birdgang are one of the largest UK fan groups of the NFL team the Arizona Cardinals. Having grown in size over the past few years and wanting to get more involved with NFL organisations within the UK it was important that they had an image that portrayed them as the loyal, invested fans that they are. We developed a new logo design for them that reflects all aspects of who they are and what they stand for.
The new logo pays homage to the Arizona Cardinals with the colour scheme used, and in the use of a cardinal as the symbol, but re-imagined in a way that makes them stand out.
As well as using a cardinal for the symbol, and colours associated with the Arizona Cardinals themselves, it was crucial that a ‘British’ element was included. This was achieved by adding a distressed Union Flag within the breast of the bird symbol. Flexibility is key and a symbol that could be made monochrome for use over imagery was essential, something often overlooked in sports logos, which tend to be more of an illustration than a logo.
