Designing the SDL Heating logo was a bit more special for me than most logo design jobs, as this was for a personal friend I’ve known since primary school. 

Simon had worked for a large UK firm as a gas engineer for a decade, and decided now was the time to go it alone. I was more than happy to help him out with this transition.

We wanted a logo that still showed people instantly what SDL were as a company, but wanted to avoid a standard, and overused, flame and a bit of text below it. 

By incorporating a flame into the S a logo that it instantly associated with heating and boilers was created, whilst still remaining unique, and more interesting to the eye.
